I have to say that we were pleasantly surprised by Khajuraho. It is a small town of about 10,000 people whose claim to fame is a bunch of temples rediscovered in the 1800’s by the British whose intricate carvings are of an erotic nature. They are made of stone and depict a variety of individuals, gods and animals in a variety of situations and undress. They are amazingly intricate and beautiful. There are 4 groupings of temples around the city so we spent all day wandering around and taking photos and then headed 25 kilometers outside the city to see their national park. It was overall a very lovely day spent being a tourist and a perfect follow up to a long day (or two) of travel.
A poor self portrait in front of one of the temples.
